Once upon a time, there was a chipmunk named Chippy who wanted to have an adventure. And not just any old sort of an adventure, but an extra-special one that would impress all of his chipmunk friends! So Chippy looked around him, to see what he could see.
Trees were no good, because while climbing to the very tippy top of the lilacs would undoubtedly by fun, it wasn’t something that had never been done before by a chipmunk. The same was true for taunting the pugs across the alley; the chipmunk gang had been there and done that numerous times before. Jumping into ornamental ponds was right out, as Chippy wasn’t a good swimmer.
And then he had the perfect idea! An idea so cunning that it was bound to impress all of his friends, and a plan so simple that Chippy could carry it out at any time.
He would sneak into a house!
After a goodly amount of reconnaissance work, Chippy decided that the Lush household would be the best choice. There were no terrible cats there, and there didn’t seem to be any dogs or children either. In other words, it was about as perfect a choice as could be.
Chippy found a handy dryer vent, and slipped inside for what was undoubtedly going to be the biggest and best adventure of his life!
Chippy the Chipmunk spent most of last Tuesday in my basement, being chased by Mr Lush. He was finally caught after I got home from work, and released into wild–on the other side of the street. Now you know the rest of the story.
