We had an unexpected incident at the library today, but it ended well.
A lady brought a bag to the reference desk that she had found by the book drop. Inside the bag were live fish–someone had bought some fish as pets, taken them to the library, and forgotten them by the book drop.
We made a page for the owner of the fish to please claim them at the reference desk.
Mr. RV, one of our regulars, came up to the desk in a flap. He was upset because his fish were gone! He had very conscientiously left his bag of fish by the book drop when he arrived, so that there wouldn’t be any unfortunate accidents while he was browsing for books. And now the fish were gone!
I handed back the bag of fish, and teased him gently about being a good Fish Dad. All smiles now that he was reunited with his new pets, Mr. RV left for the day.
