This time we saw whales! And they are *incredibly* hard to photograph. This is the very best Mr. Lush managed: that teeny tiny splash way in the distance is a whale. Really.

This is as close to lava as we got. It was very cool, and quite difficult to capture with a camera. The glow is lava as it pours off the cliff into the sea; the steam is what happens when lava meets ocean. It was pretty spectacular.
Punalu’u Beach

This is a black sand beach, although it's hard to tell in the picture. It was also *super* windy. There was a sea turtle that kept poking its head out of the water every time I looked down, so I never got a picture.
Whale Watching

Alas, we saw no whales. We did see hammerhead sharks and spotted dolphins, and it was a beautiful day, so we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.
